It’s a new ERA for Aiesec Alumni Africa.
Growth and progress are some of the most fundamental characteristics of all living organisms. It is in the same spirit that the time has come to celebrate the coming of age of Aiesec Alumni in Africa.
As is with the African culture, the coming of age is a significant milestone in the life of a person and the community at large. It is marked with fanfare, a sense honor, prestige, and celebrations. This is what has happened to Aiesec Alumni Africa as we have attained the legal entity status as a continent-wide association in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.
Aiesec Alumni has been in existence on the African continent since 1954. It was always committed to building international understanding, developing personal and professional leadership capacity and has operated independently in various countries. The association created many success stories and occasionally organized regional conferences with limited visibility on the international level.
All that is now in the past as we are ushering in a new era born from the vision to harness our potentials collectively and scale up our impact on the continent. Aiesec Alumni Africa’s role has consolidated by having it’s first and second Regional Alumni Conference in 2016 and 2017 respectively both in Cote d’Ivoire where the strategy was put together to inspire, engage and influence the African youth and the continent as a whole. With a presence in 28 countries and including the Middle East, Aiesec Alumni Africa is set to challenge status quo and facilitate positive change that will give rise to a quantum leap in the economic and social sector through the thought leadership of this great association.
While the work is not over, it is worthy to note that this milestone was made possible through the dedication of the executive leadership of Aiesec Alumni Africa and the support of every National AIESEC alumni chapter as well as every individual alumnus on the continent and in the diaspora.
So here is saying a big congratulation to this worthy cause and wishing us many more years of impacting Africa and the Middle East.
