Daniel Gulati, author of Passion & Purpose: Stories from the Best and Brightest Young Business Leaders, spent a month investigating where successful entrepreneurs found their ideas. The most popular source he found was the pain-point motivator. “I experienced a pain point in my life and wanted to solve it.” The call for entrepreneurs now is to build thriving businesses that can provide real value across sectors in society. The world continues to face complex challenges, and it seeks for more innovative thinkers and entrepreneurs to take the lead.
As you read this, there’s a startup trying to cut national water waste by a whopping 75 percent. There’s another working on developing alternative household lighting that relies solely on salt and water. One is working on optimizing the country’s first provincial bus booking system. With all of these great ideas growing all over Manila, it’s only fair to give all of that talent and potential an avenue to learn, network, and eventually, find an opportunity to grow.
International Startup Meetings (ISUM) aims to do just that. ISUM has been bringing together startups, professionals, business owners, mentors, and investors since 2011. From the launch in Paris and through other exciting destinations such as Vienna, Lima, and Mexico, ISUM has been a platform for entrepreneurs from all over the world. This year, the Philippines is thrilled to host the first ISUM in Asia in Manila on July 10 – 11, 2015 at the Impact Hub, Makati City.
ISUM, spearheaded by international organization AIESEC Alumni, seeks not only to bring together the country’s most promising entrepreneurs but also to maximize their potential as entrepreneurial leaders. The program includes a series of activities such as leadership seminars, roundtable discussions, workshops, and some exciting start-up challenges, among other exciting events!
All this excitement, thankfully, isn’t just exclusive to up and coming entrepreneurs. ISUM welcomes every interested individual wanting to discover how to contribute to the buzzing innovations for high impact businesses. If you are thinking about how to challenge the status quo or change the way we do things, or if you are already making your ideas come to life, we want to learn more about your ventures. Are you someone interested in working for, partnering, investing, or simply looking to be inspired? The International Start-Up Meetings has its doors wide open for you.
ISUM will be held on July 10-11, 2015 at Impact Hub Manila, 5/F Green Sun, Chino Roces Ext., Makati City. For more information, visit http://isumanila2015.com/
