We were especially excited to celebrate the 60th anniversary of AIESEC in Yugoslavia and to get to know Serbia and its history and culture.  We could wish for no better insight into Serbia than that we received through our interactions with the many Serbian alumni who participated in the event and festivities and through our fabulous Conference Committee hosts!

With respect to our AAI business, we started with an update on the AAI Transformation Project with a particular focus on global projects that are underway, including AIESEC Leaders List (coordinated by Hiro Kinashi from Japan); AIESEC Alumni First Thursdays (coordinated by Hugo Preciado from Mexico); and International Startups Meetings (coordinated by Christian Cochard from France).  We also participated in the launch of A-Groups, a very compelling new mentoring program about which you’ll hear a lot more soon (directed globally by Rollie Gosiengfiao from the Philippines) We also participated in the launch of A-Groups, a very compelling new mentoring program about which you’ll hear a lot more soon (directed globally by Rollie Gosiengfiao from the Philippines) and announced the soon-to-be-launched Alumni Internship Referral Program.

We then spent a lot of time discussing the new AIESEC Alumni global web portal, dubbed AlumNet, part of which we presented live to the alumni world for the first time.  We collected great feedback on AlumNet and its functionalities, and we will launch its first phase within next several months after all necessary development and testing takes place. One of AAI’s primary goals in Novi Sad was to have a dialogue about the role of Regional Alumni Associations with a particular focus on Europe, where there is so much opportunity. We achieved that goal by having much excellent discussion about the different forms of regional cooperation that exist today and some animated debate about Europe. Stay tuned for more details on this topic soon.

Last but certainly not least, we had some productive and fun-filled networking with AIESEC MCPs and with AI at IPM, and many us got to witness the election of Rolf Schmachtenberg as AIESEC’s new PAI – congratulations Rolf!
